A fair and community-based assessment approach.
Mtima Heart Foundation works closely with schools, guardians, and community representatives to identify children who may benefit most from educational support.
Our assessment considers a range of factors.
No single circumstance defines a child's need. We look at the whole picture — at home, at school, and in the community — so support reaches the children for whom it will make the biggest difference.
Financial hardship
Household income, dependants, and the family's ability to meet basic education costs.
Family & caregiving circumstances
Orphanhood, single-parent or guardian-led households, and other vulnerabilities at home.
School attendance & commitment
A track record of showing up, engaging with teachers, and persevering through difficulty.
Educational needs
Specific gaps — fees, uniform, stationery, exam registration, tuition support — that are blocking learning.
Learner potential & motivation
Curiosity, ambition and a willingness to make the most of the support offered.
Structured needs and commitment assessments.
To help ensure fairness and consistency, the foundation uses structured needs and commitment assessment approaches — including N&CAT-based evaluation methods — to better understand the challenges faced by each child and determine the most appropriate support.
Decisions are made in partnership with school leadership and community representatives, never by one person alone. This shared accountability protects every child and every donor.
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their future — regardless of their background or circumstances.
Your kindness can change a child's future.
£37 covers a child's school fees for one term. Every donation, whatever the amount, helps keep children learning.
